As wikipedia described the Kel-Tecs as " short-recoil operated" and the Walther as " blowback-operated," I figured the difference was important so I looked it up and I'm not sure how I'd apply it in fiction.  Interesting reading though.

Bond Day iii - Casino Locale

I suppose I could have saved up and made a visit to Monte Carlo, but after spending so much at the gun range in the afternoon, I was feeling impecunious that evening, so I just drove to the second-nearest casino to my home.

No, I didn't buy this.  On my way to the casino I came upon a goodwill 20 minutes before closing.  They had this late-model Olivetti and an Irish tweed jacket that was too small.  I left there empty-handed but with my meagre gaming stake intact.

Bond for a Day - Part I

 I have been rereading the Bond novels in order lately and with all the activities involved that are far removed from my daily life, I thought it would help me get into "vacation mode" to have a Bond Day where I do a few of them.  Here's the first installment.

Other Things

I'm entering this text on my latest find - the Grail of computing.  I mean of course a Model M keyboard with real clicky keys!  It's just loud enough to swap in the next time someone complains about the typewriter noise.

 And finally, here's my own Travel-Riter, with a Corsair for scale.  It's basket shift.  It's having a problem - the carriage is off the rails somehow, as if something came loose.  I've been meaning to see if anyone has suggestions but I need to get a more precise diagnosis and good pics.
