Other Things

I'm entering this text on my latest find - the Grail of computing.  I mean of course a Model M keyboard with real clicky keys!  It's just loud enough to swap in the next time someone complains about the typewriter noise.

And finally, here's my own Travel-Riter, with a Corsair for scale.  It's basket shift.  It's having a problem - the carriage is off the rails somehow, as if something came loose.  I've been meaning to see if anyone has suggestions but I need to get a more precise diagnosis and good pics.

  1. Nice threads and keyboard. (:
The model M really is a classic - I wish I could find one in the bins!

  2. Lucky find on the M keyboard. The shops around here always have plenty of the cheapy keyboards, but I have never found an M.
    Nice watch & jackets.

  4. I've always wanted to try out a mechanical keyboard as good as the M. Congrats!
And I always enjoy your posts involving watches. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Some lucky finds there, NA. The Seamaster looks good, but I confess I'm no fan of the green-bezelled Sub.
As for breakfast, do yogurt and figs. You can get scrambled eggs any day of the week. Substitute the figs with oh, I dunno, peaches or maybe a pear if you can't get figs. That still makes for a pleasant summer-style breakfast. Just make sure the coffee's black.

  6. Funny thing - his Rolex was exactly nine minutes fast. I wondered if it was intentional or needed service. The Omega kept excellent time the whole trip. Solid as a typewriter - is that a thing?

    1. Sounds like he set it ten minutes fast at some point and hasn't re-set it since. Or he's got a thing for the number 9.
As for the Omega keeping excellent time, that's not uncommon with a vintage watch, especially a hand-wound such as yours.
