There's a Smith-Corona (I think it's an 88) for sale at a local 'antique' shop. The keys seem to work but are gummy. What should I offer? Bear in mind I usually bail on an auction at about 25 bucks but that's because I'm mindful of shipping costs.

pics lost - happy damn new year
The text mentions some pictures. They were on my cell phone which I lost later in the evening. Several people took pictures of me operating so when I get theirs I'll add them to the post.
The contest where my key was tied up was "bring in your favorite key to be judged." There were some fine ones there. That pic is gone too.
a photo was taken of me with the corona
here's the gallery

what's this?
What kind of typecast would this be? At left is the output from a Stenotype. Photos of the machine follow. I've long been fascinated with these machines. I learned Gregg shorthand in high school, and played a bit with Pittman in my 20's but never got the knack - it requires lines of varying thickness as from a calligraphy pen. So watching courtroom dramas and serving on Jury duty, these machines caught my eye. Now I have one but my Google-fu is failing me - I can't seem to trace the serial number or find any model or year data. I would have thought it was just another typewriter but nope.
anyway enjoy the pics and let me know where I have missed looking.

letter to Frank
I'm sending this to "typewriters around the world" but thought it worked as a typecast from here before sending
corona day
The top half was typed on the classic 12 before I brought the 3 inside, the bottom line on the 3 itself - not a bad ribbon! Hand-written between is the serial number.
Does anyone know how to adjust the shift on the 3? it's not shifting high enough for either the caps or figures. That is a cool workaround though.
oh and before i forget,
represent for me in Philly!

still part of the story of typewriters- Super deLuxe
I wanted a photo of this brand and found an archived link:
http://www.oocities.com/wbd641/Generation3000.html
is that the precursor to Will's site?
The pics there would not load, i had to drill a second level of archive, thus:

That should scare Richard - maybe his protagonist runs it.
