I'd have to say I've been in "those" kinds of workplaces. Luckily, I am not in one of those now (and I've been here for almost 10 years).
My co-workers, who are all 15-30 years older than I (and female), frequently ask about my wife and kids. I'm almost on the opposite side, as sometimes I feel like I am talking about them all the time in response to their questions and wouldn't mind a little less, at times.
I enjoy my job, although I can't say it makes me something. I'm a business analyst, so I get to solve problems, sometimes creatively, write a ton of technical specifications, requirements and proposals and get to test our software to find all the bugs I can in a window of time...all things I really love to do and am happy to receive a paycheck.
