This one seems rather quiet. Also the ribbon isn't moving, though it twitches like it's engaged, and the vibrator isn't dropping. I'm going to see if the generic reels are just not correct for it. Does it use any special reels I need to get from Jay?
Mine's really loud, too, but I just assumed that it was because of the petrified rubber. Once I get that replaced, I'll be able to tell. One of the best typers I've ever used, definitely.
I believe that's a two tone Torpedo 18. A remember seeing one on VTS and I believe it was manufactured in the early 60's.
ReplyDeleteThanks that is my best guess as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat typewriter. I wonder whether yours is really loud, like mine. Pow pow pow!
ReplyDeleteIs it a two-tone Torpedo? Hopefully you can write sum explosive prose with this little machine.
ReplyDeleteNice looking typewriter.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about Torpedos, but I think I can't spot any difference to my Torpedo 17. Mine is also very loud.
ReplyDeleteCool! It is a twin to my Torpedo. It is loud (the polite word would be snappy), but is still my favorite daily typing machine.

ReplyDeleteLoud or not, I really like the looks of that machine. Wouldn't mind owning one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Any special typeface? :)
ReplyDeleteWhatever it is, it looks great. Hope you get it fixed - doesn't sound too hard to sort it out.
