note the snazzy cover I made out of construction paper. |
I forgot Hamilton Sea Scout and, no doubt, am ignorant of many others. |

The cover on that Erika is quite snazzy, indeed. I saw the picture before reading the text, and wondered what was 'off' with it. Once I found out, I was amazed. Doesn't even look like construction paper.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see another SM9 may just find itself in Nano. Good luck!
It never even occurred to me that missing covers could be creatively replaced. I have an Erika 5M with a wicked scratch from one of the ribbon spools coming loose in shipping. Construction paper could work, but I would really love to lay up a carbon fiber top. Yeah, that could look spiffy and it would be so light and high-performancy!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found an SM-9 to put in service. They are great machines.
Yep, a lot of watch models with the term 'sea' in them. Truth be told, all the good names have been used up. Regarding water resistance, they were generally termed 'waterproof' back then...until some company got sued because their watches weren't. The terminology was changed to water-resistant soon afterwards.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been meaning to say, NA, that if you ever have any questions, break out the batphone and e-mail me, if you like.
Thanks very much for the offer. It will likely end up being questions of nuance and comparison more than any broad inquiry. I just tonight discovered that Omega has made an alarm watch - Memomatic
DeleteYeah, late Sixties/early Seventies, I think every brand under the sun had an alarm watch going. Were people sleeping in in a major way back then?
DeleteVery ingenious cover. After I read the caption I had to go back and look.
