A Machine for the End of the World?

With apologies to the blog of the same name.

I did get the "g" working a little better.

  1. Good luck with your adjustments.

We managed to mute the TV and avoided hearing the "Revolution" preview. It looks like a cross between "The Hunger Games" and "The Postman" with a twist of "Eureka". Typewriters may be the only thing that can save this show.

  2. Hmmm, this show sounds scary. Sounds like they really did miss an opportunity there, too.

Other shows that are missing opportunities: Those picker and pawn shows! I have never seen a typewriter on any of them. Their loss is our gain...and keeps the prices from inflating to ungodly levels.

You got any photos posted anywhere of that SM4? I'd say it's a machine for the end of the world--it is a typewriter, after all.

  3. It doesn't look very good at all, but I am interested in spoilers explaining how they contrive to suspend the laws of physics.

  4. @ A.R.M.S.- I have only seen one typewriter featured on any of these shows. A Lambert was auctioned off on that Auction Kings show. The expert (a man in an 'Oliver Typewriter Co.' golf shirt) told them it could bring as high as $500, which, as we now, is rather low. It was in perfect cosmetic and working order, came in the wooden case and even had the original instruction manual.
When it finally came up for auction it went for only $175!! I was screaming at my computer screen about how unfortunate it was that I was not at the auction and whatnot.
Other than that, they do not come up. In passing shots from that American Pickers show, I have seen several Olivers, along with many other early typewriters like Remington's or LC Smith & Bros.

  5. You have time to watch TV?

Blogs, radio, yard work, typewriters, regular work and more I need a 48 hour day!

  6. NBC is advertising the bejesus out of Revolution... the chick in it looks alright.
i think your typecast is prettier though, despite the alignment issues.
