Bond has often treated killing as a necessary part of his job. He equates it to being similar to a soldier on a battlefield, except the war that he fights in is a Cold one. And he's often prone to slight depression and melancholy when there's too much time between assignments. He needs the tension and excitement of a mission to feel alive. A more complex character than most of the films have shown. And that M44 still looks like the kind of typewriter that Batman would use. The ribbon cover looks like stretched rubber.
He was a good writer, and very uch of his time. Not at all P.C. but throwing in tit-bits, such as Bond musing about having sympathy for the Cuban rebels. He has thoughts as he's sitting and watching, or hiking a long way - something I've tried to write, so it's instructive for me.
You can't go wrong with that M44.
