Olympia outing

treadle machine! this cabinet is just like ours.

I bought these items for $15 total

similar to the first one in Hopscotch

TI-59?  sorry, I didn't think to get the model till I had left.  Looking them up on ebay maybe I should have sprung for it.

get out there looking!

I just heard on the radio that today 8/17 is National Thrift Shop Day.  I can't participate, I'm at work, then on a plane, and won't touch down until after closing time.  The best I can do is encourage typewriter/vintage tech hunting among my readers.  Good luck!

A Machine for the End of the World?

With apologies to the blog of the same name.

I did get the "g" working a little better.

National Night Out

Here's our route:

I had to re-thread the ribbon in the 22, it had been threaded behind the right side of the vibrator and kept tugging it up in the way of the line of type.  Smudges can be seen where I did this, but improvement after.

Now I can't put my typewriter away.

First, I added a link after publication to yesterday's post.  Here again for those who missed it is the article from ETCetera.  Go to page 10.

All four of these crank smoothly, but three are missing a roller, I believe.
I'm starting with the two oldest ones.
I'll get to the Model 77's in a later post.

1.) Neostyle 8-F

Old, for sure, but I'm not sure how old.  Since typewriter sellers often go hilariously wrong trying to date the machines by the patent dates, so I'm hesitant to wade into the same minefield here.  I don't know how long this model was in production.

2.) Mentions Edison on the label.  I had wondered about that but one of my search hits happened to be an article in ETCetera. from 1991 (p. 10) giving the answer.  This is Model no. 76.
