randomness
Just a couple of things from today.
First, my ham license renewal came in the mail. Hard to believe it's been 10 years already, all in the 21st century.
Second, a slide rule came from shopgoodwill. This is a Pickett 1010 SL-ES "Super Power Trig". I hope I'm man enough for it.
And lastly, to get back to typewriters, I saw a different trailer for the new movie "The Family" today and couldn't find it until the creepy targeted ads based on recent activity plopped it on my facebook feed. So I clipped an image. This trailer was the first I'd seen mentioning the MC's memoirs as a plot point. It opens for half a second on his hands on a typewriter. Because they are in France in the movie I thought it was a Japy, but the key shapes aren't quite right. What do you think?

answer
The correct answer was Smith-Corona Vantage. I sure wondered if the key design was an infringement on Olivetti's Praxis design.
Here's a better-framed pic stolen (uncredited) from an ebay listing because turnabout's fair play.

I went to Goodwill after, and found an electric typewriter I didn't bring home (besides being electric, I plugged it in and didn't get a hum so it was more a doorstop at that point, though I may have tried a dead outlet), but I thought it would be a good guessing game. Who made it? I'll save the revealing pic for next post.
First clue, here's the keyboard.
