I don't have time for a full post on this typewriter just obtained today, but I wanted to let you all get a glimpse of it after the recent post and discussion on Underwoods marked "Champion" over at
Bill's blog.  In this case it's Remington's turn.  I was just hoping to replace my KMC from the Lost Patrol. Luckily, I think it will fill that niche.

I wonder if Champion was a self-promotion for a company that won the major typing cometition(s) of the day. Underwood won most, but Remington and Royal won a few.
ReplyDeleteWeird. It dates from March 1948 according to Remington company records. In April 1950 the model was replaced by the Super-Riter.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this was the original Remington finish, or whether it was rebuilt and refinished at some point. The Champion decal sure looks like an Underwood decal.
