I haven't posted here for a long time, and about eighty percent of the reason for that is the lack of a scanner that works with Windows from 7 to 10.  But the rest is laziness and some distractions.
The latest distraction is definitely cutting into my lazy time.  I've been sick.  So I'm blogging elsewhere for a few weeks (or months, possibly).

Here is my Caring Bridge page, if you want to know what's going on.

And here is some info on lung carcinoids, for the curious.

The good news is that carcinoids in the lungs are pretty straightforward to treat, with a high success rate.  In other places, they are more problematic, for example as Steve Jobs had in the pancreas.

So wish me luck and I'll get a scanner as soon as they'll allow me to lift one.

  1. Good luck with your recovery! Hope everything works out well! :)

  2. I’ve had some luck in photographing types pages using the camera of my iPod Touch. It helps to light the page brightly and evenly. Then edit the photo to orient it properly and crop it. Then increase the contrast to make the characters easier to see.

I wish you the best in your recovery and healing.

  3. All the best with your health.

I recently went through scanner problems too. Mine died and for quite a while I was too cheap to replace it. Anyway you state some of the exact reasons I quit using Windows and anything from microcrud over 10 years ago. If they had open source driver then things could be made to work, but with them and the OSX folks it is all about $$$$. Linux is so nice.

  4. I've dropped the ball with my blog too. Laziness and lack of inspiration being the main reasons.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, NA.

  5. get lots of rest and I hope your treatment goes well. Thumbs up from down under. The typosphere will no doubt be here when you get back.

  6. Hope you get well soon, Peter!
