You are blessed. Go lightly cleaning the paint, even plain old soap and water seems to soften it. Dab and stipple not wipe I reckon. Is that burgundy or chocolate? That $11 just about matches my £5 SM4 for value! Congratulations and enjoy.
ReplyDeletewv: coampetl. A buttonhole for barbers?
You keep finding these awesome Olympias for so cheap! :D
ReplyDeleteI have my own cheap Olympia strategy up my sleeve though too and it SHOULD work out.
Typewriters grow like weeds in Tacoma. Unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteUndeniably a great find.
ReplyDeleteWhat does that label say? I love when new (to you) machines come with little hints of their pasts!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with lo-tech -- and why don't they grow like weeds in the Chicago area???
On in northeast Indiana??? Nice find, by the way!
ReplyDelete$7.50 for typewriters at the outlet store. This one is another chocolate color, now I have 2 Choc and 3 green. I will be selling 2 of the green pica sm3's, so thanks for the cleaning tips. The sticker is scuffed and faded but I think it says 80210, nothing else is apparent. curious...
ReplyDeleteSmokin' deal! I wish I could find old-style Olympias here. Best I've found so far is a pair of SM9's. (:
ReplyDeleteHey, I need a good Olympia for a guy in Arlington. He contacted me after the last type-in. He has a Royal now but "it's not like my Olympia I had long ago" he said. Want to part with on of those green SM-3s?
ReplyDeleteSnohomish - how much (or trade for what)? I don't think I can deliver to Arlington, can he come to the type-in on the 30th?
ReplyDeleteI figured I would just buy one from you (or maybe both) and then I would pass one on to him.
ReplyDeleteYou have my email?
ReplyDeleteI may come across a few nice typewriters in Geneva from time to time, but they are usually all pica or elite. You have the best unusual typeface finding luck of anyone, anywhere, ever. Nice one!
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't. Can I give you my number?
ReplyDeletesure. Any way you want to communicate. What's funny is we could have exchanged letters by now. not to say we can't still do that...
ReplyDeleteAdwoa: "from time to time" yet the letteras I can' find are "enough already" LOL. I think you are mainly thinking of that groovy-script Galaxie. I need to typeccast with it again.
