  1. Very nice find, indeed! The price was certainly right. Just the way I like 'em. Cheap.

  4. Looks rugged and practical, like an early Hermes Baby.

  5. I agree on the construction. They seem pretty rugged at first, but when you get them apart, they turn out to be primarily constructed out of cheap, pliable pot metal. Still, though, fun and ultra-portable!

  6. This is one my favourite typewriters. They are hard to come by and seem generally to command a high price over here in the UK. Mine is S/N: A-01626, so almost a contemporary to yours - though mine is gloss which, I have to say, I prefer.

...and if you need a manual for it...

  7. Very cool, Rob! I like that color on yours.

  8. Wow, so this is the early Antares style... very elegant I must say. I have a later model with a "C" serial number, quite a different shape from this early racer: http://typewriters.ch/collection/antares_portable.html

  9. I love the lines on that machine. To be honest, I've never heard of Antares (is my limited knowledge showing?). After seeing this, I might be more apt to keep my eyes open for them in the future.

And nothing beats a cheap Goodwill pickup. Especially when the typewriter is in such great condition!

  10. I'm wondering if this is the model that was later made as an Underwood? I can't tell the height dimentions by this pic, but it sure looks like it might be.
    Neat machine.
